Iowa State University Dining Summer Fundraising

In the summer of 2018, the City of Ames and Iowa State University will host the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals Conference. ISU Dining will provide dining services to the many participants who will be attending this conference. We need your help in providing the high quality of services that Ames and ISU Dining have become known for. We are looking for local, civic, community and school non-profit organizations that are interested in earning extra money for their organization.

Dates & Duties

The dates of the conference are Wednesday, May 23 through Saturday, May 26 or Sunday May 27. Expected duties include serving meals, dining room service, dish washing, and light miscellaneous cleaning duties—all which involve standing, lifting and moving about for the entire three-hour work shift. Work assignments will be made in one of our many dining facilities on campus. No cooking will be required of workers.

When You Are Needed
We are looking for groups that can work all breakfasts, all lunch shifts OR all dinner shifts during each of the conference dates. Your group may contract to take multiple meals, such as combining a breakfast with a lunch or a lunch with a dinner for each day of the entire conference. Please note that on Sunday May 27th, some locations will have the option to help with a breakfast service.

Team Structure & Requirements

Each team will consist of one Team Leader and four members (5 total workers). A Team may have several team leaders to share the responsibility.  A leader does need to be present for each shift of the conference. Team workers may be different people from your organization each day as long as there are always four in attendance for each shift. Groups often recruit spouses and other relatives of their members to assist in the fundraising efforts. We do recommend scheduling a back-up worker who may step in and work if a member is unable to attend. All Team Leaders and workers must be age 18 or older by May 23, 2018.

Orientation: Each Team Leader must attend a two-hour orientation program (dates to be determined). The Team Leaders will be responsible for their group members (ability to perform work duties, transportation, training, form collection for each member, and supervision during the shift).

Work Attire: The required uniform is simple and comfortable, consisting of a plain white t-shirt, full length blue jeans (no capris), and comfortable shoes such as tennis shoes (no sandals or open-toed allowed).

The expected times for each of these three shifts are:
